Shelby GT350R-C Race Car Picks Up Third Consecutive Win

Win again for the Shelby GT350R-C

Win again for the Shelby GT350R-C

Ford has roots in American motorsports, and with vehicles like the Mustang under its brand, it’s no wonder the company’s reputation has pervaded across modern race tracks to this day. Ford’s Shelby GT350R-C race car recently picked up its third win in a row this past August, thanks to co-drivers Billy Johnson and Scott Maxwell. The win was expected; though it’s the Shelby’s third win, this marks the fourth time the co-driver team has taken the winner’s title together.

Initially, it looked as if the Shelby GT350R-C had fallen behind and would have to settle for second place. However, tides turned during a heart-stopping final lap in which the leader ran out of fuel and Johnson, hot on his trail, pulled ahead for the win.

Johnson went on to praise his vehicle after the race, stating, “The Ford Shelby GT350R-C is just a fantastic car. I love driving it. Both Scott and I worked on the development on the street and race car and we’re both very privileged to be racing it.”

One of the Shelby GT350R-C race car’s key points was its long-lasting fuel tank. Johnson confessed he became nervous as other contenders began to run out of fuel on the track and had to stop, but the Shelby persevered and earned him his first career win on Road America.

2015 Ford Mustang Apollo Edition

Ford Mustang Apollo Edition pic

The Ford Mustang Apollo Edition is a great tribute to the Apollo Space Program and looks similar to this stock ‘stang.

Last week, July 23, 2015, Ford donated the 2015 Ford Mustang Apollo Edition to the charity auction AirVenture, hosted by the Experimental Aircraft Association.

The one of a kind Apollo Edition is upgraded with a supercharger and shifter that brings the horsepower up to 627, over 100 hp higher than the stock version, among several other performance enhancements to make it a track-ready powerhouse. The exterior features a classy black and white paint job with patriotic stars and stripes and orange LED headlights meant to mimic the look of a rocket ship.

Created to honor the Apollo space program and “represent the astonishing innovations in technology and national achievement that was landing the first human on the moon,” the proceeds from the futuristic Apollo Edition Mustang will be donated to youth aviation programs like the Young Eagles. This is the eighth special edition car Ford has donated to charity auctions like AirVenture.

Mustang Wins 6th Consecutive Vincentric Best Value in America Award

The Ford Mustang has done it again: for the sixth consecutive year, it has earned the Vincentric Best Value in America Award for Sports Cars, showing that no, it really doesn’t intend to ever step down from the top.

The Best Value in America Awards, as you may have gathered from the name, are annual awards handed out by the Vincentric research firm, which specializes in ownership cost analysis. The company ranks vehicles in their respective segments based on several key costs of ownership, including depreciation, fees and taxes, financing, fuel, insurance, maintenance, opportunity cost, and repairs.

Vincentric’s data found that the Mustang’s total cost of ownership over a five year period was 4% below the expected amount, thanks to the lowest maintenance and fuel costs in its class. That’s about $4,000 cheaper than its closest competitor—but you don’t even have to wait that long to save money, as the Mustang is already one of the most affordable sports cars on the market right now! Come check it out at Cambridge Classic Ford!

2015 Mustang Safety Features: Award-Winning Safety for High-Octane Driving

Not only is the new Mustang a high-performance muscle car, but it also features an incredible new safety system. The 2015 Mustang safety features recently earned it a five-star Overall Vehicle Score from the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration (NHTSA). This just goes to show that the new model truly has everything you could ever need.

2015 Mustang Safety FeaturesThe NHTSA was most impressed with the improved safety on the latest model. According to Ford, the new Mustang has twice as many airbags as before, twice as many peripheral crash sensors, and an innovative new seatbelt-tensioning system.

“The new Mustang was built from the ground up,” said Carl Widmann, Mustang chief engineer.  “It is more refined, more powerful and it has everything people have come to love about Mustang for the past 50 years.”

Aside from the array of standard safety features, the new Mustang also comes with driver assist technology. This includes adaptive cruise control, BLIS® Cross-Traffic Alert, and SYNC 911. With all of these features, you’ll be safer than ever in one of the world’s most popular muscle cars.

2016 Ford Mustang Shelby GT350R Laps Camaro

Nurburgring, ‘the Ring’, is a track in Germany that sees muscle cars going head to head in lap times every year. This year was no different and EVO reported that Ford is raising the bar.

Shortly after its debut in Detroit, the 2016 Ford Mustang Shelby GT350R lapped the Ring faster than the Chevrolet Camaro Z/28. The difference? Five seconds. It may not sound like much but on the track a split second is the difference between winning and losing.

With a time of 7 minutes 32.19 seconds, the Shelby beats out the Camaro Z28’s 7 minute 37.47 second lap. The Shelby GT350R’s time is comparable to the Ferrari 458 Italia’s.

With this new Mustang starting off the next generation right, Ford has picked up the pace and taken it directly to its competitors. With a 5.2L V8 engine putting out over 500 horses, weight saving modifications, and magnetic ride suspension, the standard has been set.

Is it any wonder the world would rather choose a Ford over a Chevy? Chevrolet’s response later this year with the release of the next generation Camaro still won’t be able to beat this Mustang.

New Ford Mustangs on Display at SEMA

As usual, this year’s SEMA show, going on now, is a hotbed of performance car activity. Of course, the Ford Motor Company is right in the thick of that action, with a bevy of new Ford Mustangs on display right now at the show. Ford brought more than the usual amount of Mustangs, in fact; they’re using SEMA as just another way to celebrate 50 years of Mustang.

We’re not sure which one of the many Mustangs currently in Las Vegas is the coolest, but we know which one is the boss: the King Cobra Edition, with its muscular design and daunting red and black coloring. The King Cobra gets over 600 horsepower, so it’s no surprise it’s the big daddy at SEMA right now.

It’s definitely not the only Mustang worth checking out, though—and you don’t even have to go to SEMA to see them all. Just come visit us here at Cambridge Classic Ford to see the Corvettes currently in inventory and learn more about the 2015 Mustang as well. We’ll tell you all about the new options and features, like the 2.3L EcoBoost engine that makes the Mustang more powerful and efficient than ever before.

2015 Mustang Is a True Spectacle

The Ford Mustang has consistently been a stylish car that is not short on power. The new 2015 model is no exception. It debuts a new look that has been a long time coming. With a six-speed automatic and the option of having EcoBoost, this Mustang is a true spectacle with both its sporting and efficiency features.

2015 MustangUSA Today says that the Launch Control system “feathers the amount of power so that — theoretically — just the right amount is applied to the rear tires for the quickest possible acceleration.” This means that through controlling the power output, the Mustang is made even more efficient.

So how much is this new-and-improved Mustang? For the standard V-6, the price starts at $24,425, $25,995 for the EcoBoost, and $32,925 for the GT V-8 model.

Now that you know this Mustang has to be your next car, the hardest decision you will have to make is which trim to get. The 2015 Mustang will roll into dealerships this October, so plan to get yours from us at Cambridge Classic Ford!

Ford’s Supplier Relationships Mean New Features for F-150 and Mustang

Ford Motor Company has a long-time reputation of maintaining outstanding relationships with its suppliers. The company’s suppliers vary from year to year, and this year, Ford ranked fourth out of six in the annual Planning Perspectives Inc. survey of how auto suppliers view their customers.

Ford is currently in the middle of a year with 23 product launches, 16 of those in North America. Ford’s current supplier relationships are helping to provide a range of innovative new features for the 2015 F-150 and Mustang.

According to autonews.com, Hau Thai-Tang, group vice president for Ford global purchasing, showcased the following technologies to be seen on 2015 vehicles:

Hydroformed A-pillar and roof rails (2015 Mustang). Schuler Inc. and Midway Products worked with Ford to create a heavy-gauge steel hydroformed A-pillar and roof rails.

High-strength steel frame (2015 F-150). The 2015 F-150 will be the first pickup featuring a lightweight aluminum body, however the lightweight pickup will feature a steel frame. Ford worked with Metalsa S.A. on its steel frame that is 60 pounds lighter with improved rigidity.

LED headlamps (2015 F-150). Ford noted that they worked with suppliers Osram GmbH and Flex-n-Gate Corp. to design a new headlamp design that “saves energy, is designed for longevity, and casts a much brighter and clearer light down the road than halogen or incandescent lamps”.

Quarter windows (2015 Mustang 50 Year Limited Edition). Ford worked with Magna International Inc. to create new quarter windows made of louvered glass.

“Considering the impact suppliers have on our business, with 70 percent of the value of the vehicle being purchased from our supplier partners, our suppliers are critical to our ability to offer attractive solutions to our customers,” Thai-Tang said in a statement.

Ford maintains a massive supply chain, with more than 1,100 suppliers located across more than 4,600 manufacturing sites, and supplying more than 130,000 parts for use in Ford vehicles.
