Ford Transit Featured on American Pickers as Production Begins in Kansas

2014 Ford Transit Connect WagonIf you’re a fan of The History Channel’s American Pickers, you’re likely also familiar with the Mercedes-Benz Sprinter in which the show’s hosts, Mike Wolfe and Frank Fritz, roll around the country from hidden treasure trove to hidden treasure trove. Well, starting now, you’ll see them trekking cross-country in a new vehicle: the all-new Ford Transit, which just opened production at Ford’s Kansas City Assembly Plant.

The Transit, as a full-size van designed for commercial use, has one major advantage over the Sprinter: size. “The biggest thing is, when the van is full, then we’ve got to come home. I’m interested in real estate on wheels,” Wolfe said. “There were four or five different vehicles I was looking at, and I just keep coming back to the Ford as the better choice.” Wolfe and Fritz can stuff more relics than ever in the Transit, transporting it all back to their shop in Iowa.

If you’re interested in doing a little treasure-hunting of your own, Ford is doubling down on its promotion of the Transit; they’ve hidden 10 scale model Transits in antique stores around the country. Find one and you’ll be entered to win a Transit of your own! Come see us at Cambridge Classic Ford for more information about the contest or Ford’s spacious new van today.
