Ford Remains America’s No. 1 Retail Manufacturer in 2013

Ford defended its claim as America’s best-selling auto manufacturer for the fourth straight year as it set new sales records in 2013, with strong showings from the Ford Fiesta, Fusion, Escape, and F-Series.

Total 2013 sales amounted to 2,493,918, the brand’s best performance since 2006, and December sales were up 2% for an all-time record total of 218,058.

The Ford Fusion was the fastest-improving nameplate with a healthy 27% increase in sales, setting a record for December as well as an all-time annual record with 295,280 vehicles sold in 2013. Close behind was none other than the Ford Fiesta, which also set a new annual record with 71,071 units sold, up 25% over last year.

In the bigger car categories, the Ford Escape shone with sales up 22% in December and up 13% for the year, setting an annual record at 295,993 units sold. Finally, the F-Series cemented an eight-month streak of selling more than 60,000 per month and selling the highest number of units since 2006.
